View the least expensive 2024 health insurance plans in the United States. Pre-existing conditions are covered and there are no lifetime caps on the amount of medical claim expenses paid. Easily preview policies and rates in all states for all family members and save money with premium tax credits. All plans shown below are available through the Marketplace with or without a federal subsidy. The cost of coverage is often $0, depending upon the amount of the cost savings and the premium tax credit. Many carriers have extensive national networks for their physicians, specialists, hospitals, and medical facilities.

Often, Medicaid is the least expensive healthcare option. Comprehensive coverage is provided and CHIP may also be available. However, for individuals or families that don’t qualify, or prefer private coverage from a major insurer, Exchange plans are offered in all states, and typically from multiple carriers in your area. Qualified preventative benefits are provided with no out-of-pocket expenses, and there is no cap on covered medical expenses paid by the insurer.

Affordable health insurance for children is also available at very low prices, and stand-alone plans can be purchased. However, it may be more cost-effective to cover dependents on a parent’s Marketplace plan, or through a group plan provided by an employer.

2023 rates will vary, depending on age, household income, geographic area, and smoking status. Medical conditions (past or present) do not impact pricing. It is fairly common for carriers to offer plans in only selected counties in a state. Federal subsidies also may be different from one county to another. If an existing plan becomes unavailable or is no longer offered, a “life changing event” may create a Special Enrollment Period (SEP), and allow an applicant to enroll in a plan outside of the Open Enrollment period.
